Since the launch of Pokémon Crimson and Violet last year, a portion of fans have been asking for one special item: Penny’s Eevee Backpack. The bag that Penny carries throughout the game looks like a regular fox Pokémon, and considering Eevee is one of the series’ mascots, I’m surprised it took this long for The Pokémon Company to capitalize on its popularity. But it’s finally happening, and Penny’s Eevee backpack is on sale… though only in Japan for now.
The Eevee Backpack is part of Paldea’s Pokémon Trainers line of merchandise, which includes merchandise based on the characters Scarlet and Violet. These include replicas such as Electric Gym Leader Iono’s hair bow and Elite Four’s Riki’s gloves. The accessories will go on sale in Japan on September 16th, and the Eevee bag will retail for 6,930 yen (about $47 USD). But as of this writing, there appears to be no news of a Western launch. You can try going to the Pokémon Center website, but for now it looks like this is a Japanese promotion only. If you don’t want to risk missing it, you can import it through a third-party seller. The rest can simply bask in his glory.
Personally, I regret that this sentence didn’t highlight the game’s best character, Professor Tarrow. The Pokemon Company, give me a Turro plushie. Or anything that confirms the existence of the hot professor. I give you money, but the only product he has is trading cards. shame.
The Pokémon Company will be adding several new characters to Scarlet and Violet’s line of merchandise when the RPG’s two-part DLC releases, starting next month on September 13th with The Teal Mask. The second part, “The Indigo Disk”, is expected to be released on September 13th. Will launch later in 2023.
